Dentistry is a precision science. Dentists and other dental experts rely on a variety of tools to perform feats of science that would be impossible without the technological advances of the past decade. However, science and technology are dynamic fields as new dental procedures, tools, and technical applications are created almost daily. Some advancements incrementally improve tried-and-true methodologies while other innovations have entirely revolutionised the dental industry.
When it comes to the latest and the best in dental technology and science, SmileBay has what you and your family need to design, create and maintain a perfect smile!
Here are four of our innovative technological advancements that aid in more efficient and effective dental procedures:
The Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) machine captures a 3D x-ray image of the lower half of the skull during a CT scan. This enables 3D visualisation of the teeth, upper and lower jawbones, nerve canal positions, maxillary sinuses, temporo-mandibular joints (TMJ) and airway. We use it not only as a diagnostic tool to detect ongoing infections and diseases of the teeth and jaw, but also to plan future treatments, such as volumetric measurements of the remaining bone for accurate implant placements and bone grafting procedures.
SmileBay employs this pioneer brand for our surgical procedures. We are essentially eradicating drilling and sawing with the Mectron PIEZOSURGERY® Touch Unit. Instead, ultrasonic micro vibration is used to perform minimally invasive bone surgeries such as implants and bone augmentation procedures. Its selective cutting feature also protects soft tissue, such as nerves and blood vessels, from damage. This ensures the highest level of safety for our patients.
We perform a large number of dental implant procedures at SmileBay. This is why it is critical that we use a precise and safe implant surgical motor. The KaVo EXPERTsurg delivers high performance, precision, safety and low vibration in a small tabletop device, making implant surgery a breeze for both our patients and dentists.
In addition to digital scanning and digital software design for dental restorations, our in-house laboratory uses 3D printing technology to complete the digital dentistry workflow. Our latest addition is the SprintRay Pro S55 3D printer. Hailed as one of the best in the industry, it touts high accuracy, repeatability and resolution, and is instrumental in elevating the deployment of 3D printing in the dental industry. This extremely user-friendly machine allows us to fabricate restorative prostheses, including crowns, bridges and implant surgical stents for computer-guided surgery with utmost precision.
At SmileBay, our team is always on the lookout for new technologies to provide our patients with cutting-edge dental treatments that can be performed in a more efficient, effective and comfortable manner. We place great care and emphasis on having the best and most precise dental equipment and technology available to ensure our patients get the best possible results.
What’s more, we have the only in-house Digital Dental Lab in the northern region of Malaysia, which is equipped with cutting-edge technology and allows our experts to create the most precise prostheses within a shorter time span.
